Hello! I'm so glad you've found your way to my teaching page. My private studio in Manhattan (and via Zoom!) welcomes students of all skill levels beginning at age 12 and specializes in jazz singing,  contemporary voice, songwriting and artistic development.
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Studio Music and Jazz Vocal Performance from the University of Miami's Frost School of Music, and  have completed Levels I, II and III of Somatic Voicework™ training (The LoVetri Method).  Somatic Voicework™ is a body-based, functional method of vocal pedagogy informed and supported by voice science. I love SVW so much because it makes voice science and technical instruction tangible and easy to understand. Instead of, "find the buzzing sound in your forehead and let it flow like a waterfall out of your nose..." a SVW instruction might sound like, "at a soft, 3/10 volume, sing these four notes on an 'e' vowel with your lips in a  wide, bright smile shape." With vocal health at the forefront, the SVW approach integrates physical awareness,  stylistic accuracy, vocal freedom and the individuality of every vocal artist. It is applicable to all styles of singing!
In addition to vocal technique, I love working on songwriting, composition, improvisation, music theory, audition prep, making an album and artistic/career development. I create unique lessons plans that cater to each student's specific interests, needs and goals. Ideally, a lesson should feel fun, creative, helpful and inspiring!

I have been teaching since 2012 in many capacities including: Adjunct Voice Faculty at Sonoma State University, Jazz Choir Director, Workshop & Masterclass Instructor, Musical Director and Private Voice Instructor.

Student Quotes
"As someone who has sung all my life, but never had lessons, I've been thrilled to work with such a talented and terrific voice teacher. Danielle brings enormous expertise based on her impressive music education, as well as from her years of training her own voice and performing. She is a gifted teacher who builds my confidence. I've been singing lead in a band and several people have told me they can tell the difference in my singing since I've been taking lessons from Danielle. I can't recommend her highly enough." -Wendy J.

"I have always wanted to sing publicly but have felt shy about what I perceive to be my voice's limitations. In just the few lessons I have had so far Danielle has really helped me understand and focus in on my strengths and offered concrete approaches to address where I am weaker. Her presence is warm and has helped build my confidence. She doesn't fit students into predefined boxes but lets them explore where they would like to go with their voices. Also, I appreciate her knowledge of jazz repertoire." -Sam I.

"Danielle was an outstanding vocal teacher! Each lesson we had was really tailored to my specific needs and provided a ton of materials for me to learn from. She really helped me develop my skills as a vocalist, particularly with her jazz expertise, and furthered me as a musician." -Nikki B.

"Having Danielle as a teacher was an incredible experience. She helped me find my voice and she did so with patience and encouragement. Not only were the lessons enriching but they were fun!" -Daniela M.
